Bashi Gaetsaloe is the Founder and Managing Director of Jupiter Consulting and Services, a specialised innovation and management consultancy assisting clients to compete successfully in a world characterised by disruption, globalization and the advent of the fourth industrial revolution. He has 28 years experience in both the private and public sectors – including leading two international consulting firms as Managing Director: KPMG Consulting and Accenture Botswana. Recently, he led the 5-year transformation at Botswana Development Corporation – a Botswana Government-owned investment holding company. Under his leadership BDC achieved record growth in all its major indicators and achieved a first-time investment-grade rating from Moody’s of Baa2/Stable.
He has worked across Southern Africa and his experience covers: strategy, innovation, business development, leadership and entrepreneurship development, project financing, sustainability and risk management.
Bashi is an entrepreneur, start-up mentor, and investor who is committed to catalysing the nascent Botswana startup movement. He has worked with tertiary institutions to develop a 21st century skills curriculum and teaching methods to prepare young learners for a world characterised by the Fourth Industrial Revolution; he has developed a led capacity building and strategy for innovations teams and boards; he has also developed and conducted innovation and startup incubation capacity building programmes in Botswana; he is certified mentor under VC4A and has mentored numerous startups; and he is invested in startups across several industries..
Currently he is a consultant under UNDP’s flagship Supplier Development Programme (SDP) where he is assisting SME’s develop the required quality, systems, processes, capacity, and management capability to successfully supply large corporates with products and services at the required quality, quantity, and time frames.
In 2015 Bashi was appointed by His Excellency the President of Botswana to a Special Presidential Task Team to develop Botswana’s new national vision – Vision 2036.
Bashi sits on the Board of Ninety One Botswana (formerly Investec Asset Management); Hollard Life Botswana (Chairman); Hollard Insurance Botswana; and Travel for Impact (a unique social enterprise that reallocates funds from the tourism industry back into community initiatives). He also sits on the Advisory Board of the Global Lab for Climate Finance (Southern Africa) which has collectively mobilised US$2.3 Billion for climate projects in renewable energy, climate risk, energy access, smart agriculture, and smart cities and transportation.
He holds a Masters in Economics from Yale University and BA in Economics from Connecticut College.
